Rangers and Angels prepare for game two of series

The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will play game two of their three-game series tonight at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The Rangers took game one last night by a score of 11-7, increasing their AL West division lead to three games. Ervin Santana (9-9, 3.17) will toe the rubber for the Angels while the Rangers will counter with C.J. Wilson (13-5, 3.08).

Santana, who will be pitching on three days’ rest for the first time in his career, is 0-2 with a 6.27 ERA in three starts against the Rangers this season. The Angels have lost all three of their games against the Rangers this season in which Santana has started, including two in Arlington. A few Rangers who have had success against Santana this season include:

  • Ian Kinsler: 7-10 with three extra base hits and had the game winning 2-RBI single in Anaheim on August 17th
  • Elvis Andrus: 4-8 with two walks and an RBI
  • Mitch Moreland: 2-5 with one home run and 3 RBIs

Wilson is 2-1 in four starts against the Angels this season with a stellar 1.33 ERA. Wilson has 25 strikeouts in 27 innings while allowing only 22 hits. The Rangers have won three out of the four games that Wilson has started against the Angels with the only loss coming on July 21, 1-0 in Anaheim.
