Sean Avery, a former New York Ranger, is rumored to be one of the contestants on the upcoming season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars.” According to Pro Hockey Talk on Feb. 27, Avery will be joining the cast.
The website says Avery has been seen at the New York studio of Gwyneth Paltrow’s trainer Tracy Anderson. The NHL player was supposedly in training for the grueling dance competition.
This will be the second post-NHL career move Avery has made since leaving the Rangers. He previously worked at the high-fashion ad agency Lipman which went belly up last year after running out of cash.
Avery reportedly posted a video of himself dancing to Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” which showcased his Anderson-taught dance moves but the video has been subsequently removed.
Other confirmed contestants for the show include Nene Leakes and Candace Cameron Bure. Season 18 will also be the first season for Erin Andrews as cohost as she replaces veteran cohost Brooke Burke-Charvet and the first year for band leader Ray Chew who replaces Harold Wheeler.
ABC will announce the new cast of “Dancing with the Stars” on March 4 on “Good Morning America.”
