Randy Travis’s “Influences Vol. 1: The Man I Am” was released on Sept. 30 and samples of the songs on the CD are available on Randy Travis’s website. Even though the CD was just released, it is already receiving rave reviews from critics and fans.
But the release of “Influences Vol. 1: The Man I Am” was marred by a mind-boggling report from Broadway World that the award-winning country and gospel music icon had recently appeared at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Fans, already hungry for any news on Travis’s health were shocked and appalled and comments on the article reflect their disbelief that the article made it past an editor and was published.
In addition to the erroneous report that Travis would appear at the Ridgefield Playhouse, reports have surfaced from unreliable sources that Randy Travis’s father has accused his fiancée of putting his Randy's health in jeopardy. Travis’s father claims that Mary Davis insisted that Randy be moved from the Nashville rehab facility back home to a facility in Texas. Reports that Mary Davis and Randy Travis’s ex-wife Lib Hatcher are battling over the singer’s fortune, which includes an insurance policy worth $10 million, have also surfaced and also come from unreliable sources.
“Influences Vol. 1: The Man I Am” is Randy Travis’s twenty-first studio albums and pays tribute to the artists who have influenced Travis throughout the years. The CD is available for download on iTunes and includes Travis’s tribute to the late George Jones, “Tonight I’m Playing Possum.”
