Randy Travis, an award-winning country music icon, suffered from a stroke last summer that nearly ended his life. New reports indicate that Travis’s health is improving more and more each day and that he is even playing his guitar a little bit.

It seems that despite the life-threatening health issues that hospitalized him last year, Randy Travis is slowly getting his voice back, according to a Feb. 5 report from Closer Weekly. Travis’s father Harold issued a statement that his son is “anxious to get back to work and connect with his fans again.” Traywick also said that doctors are “extremely pleased” with Randy’s progress and that his son is slowly getting back his trademark baritone.

Just a few weeks ago photos of a smiling Randy Travis were posted on Twitter and Facebook. The member of Grand Ole Opry looked healthy and happy in the photographs. In one of the photos Randy Travis is seated in a golf cart flanked by two friends. In the other photograph Travis is seated while his fiancée Mary and her children stand around him.
