For Randy Travis, a DUI arrest last summer could result in a maximum two-year jail sentence and a $4,000 fine.
Larry Friedman, the country crooner's attorney, confirmed to E! News that Travis was " . . . charged with one count of driving while intoxicated after he was found in toxicology tests to have a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.15," according to a Jan. 11, 2013 report. The legal limit is 0.08.
Travis has formally been charged with driving under the influence stemming from his bizarre naked arrest over the summer. Randy Travis's DUI arrest on Aug. 7, 2012 may have been his most unusual and unfortunate brush with the law, and there have been several. On that date, he was in a single-car accident. The country singer had driven to an off-road construction site where he crashed.
Police who responded to the scene at 11:59 p.m. found him completely naked and apparently drunk. He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, but he refused to take a breathalyzer test at the scene. However, he was given a blood test after his arrest, which he failed.
The morning after Randy Travis's DUI arrest, he was released from jail wearing borrowed clothing, which consisted of ill-fitting scrubs and a baseball cap. He was barefoot.
