Country icon Randy Travis was arrested early Feb. 6 in Sanger, Texas when he was found with an open bottle of wine -- in front of a church.
Seems the Sunday festivities went well into the wee hours for the country crooner, as an officer took in Travis at 1:30 a.m. on a charge of suspicion public intoxication, according to a Denton County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tom Reedy. Reedy told CBSNews.com that authorities received a call about a suspicious vehicle parked outside a Baptist church. Police reported they found Travis inside his car with an open bottle of wine and smelling of alcohol, and was subsequently taken into custody. The charge is a Class C misdemeanor, and Travis was released later that morning after being held for four hours per their policy on public intoxication charges.
"I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl. I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions," said Travis Monday in a released statement to the Associated Press.
Hey, at least he's a church-goin' man. Travis is currently on tour and his next stop is Friday in Grand Ronde, Ore.
