Randy's Autobiography-Born Country
Although Alabama no longer performs often together, their lead singer hasn't slowed down a bit. Randy Owen has been one busy retiree and plans to stay that way.
Just this year he has hosted his 22nd Annual Randy Owen Celebrity Classic Golf
Tournament, (which benefits the Alabama Sheriffs' Youth Ranches), became the first recipient of the Donald R. Myers Humanitarian Award named in memory of Donald R. Myers,For his tireless efforts in June Jam, (raising money for the citizens of Appalachia in Alabama and other states), received the Artist Humanitarian Award from the Country Radio Broadcasters, and has played a few concerts and signed many copies of his book "Born Country".
But Randy really gave back to his hometown in a big way when he and his wife Kelly, joined the locals in sending off the 1343rd Chemical Company of the Alabama National Guard as they left for Kuwait. "This is our hometown, and these soldiers and families mean a lot to us," said Owen. "It is truly special to be a part of sending off our soldiers and sharing the pride and pain with their families."
Randy is an hometown boy at heart, and when not operating his working ranch, “Tennessee River Music” his Lookout Mountain family farm, he is out in the community, giving back to those who supported him and encouraging his neighbors to give of themselves as well. Look for Randy at his book signing at The Book Shelf in Fort Payne on May 29 from 5-7 p.m. and be sure to join him at his Ranch for his annual Fan Appreciation Concert June 13 which is part of Alabama's annual Fan Appreciation Week, an annual event where the "Boys" give back to Fort Payne.
Yes, Randy Owen is a superstar to many, but to the folks on Lookout Mountain, he is just a good ol' Alabama boy, southern born and southern bred....and thats the way he likes it.
