For the second time in less than a year Oakland Raiders defensive assistant Randy Hanson finds himself in the midst of a drama unfolding with the Oakland Raiders.

It is being reported that Tom Cable punched Hansen in the face, sending him to the hospital. This incident has been reported by multiple sources, but when Cable spoke after practice he steadfastly refused to comment on any aspect of the situation stating that it was "an internal matter" and would be handled that way.

This situation is just now coming to the surface, but it began earlier this month when Hanson was admitted to the hospital after what appeared to be an assault. He told hospital authorities that he had been punched by a fellow member of the staff, however he declined to name the perpetrator. The Napa police stated that there is nothing they can do if the victim does not want to cooperate.

This is not the first time that the anonymous assistant coach has found himself in the center of attention. Nearly a year ago he was brought into the center of the Lane Kiffin firestorm when Kiffin suspended him following the Raiders opening week drubbing by the Denver Broncos. At that time, Hanson had drawn his boss's ire by stating, "Its a good thing Shanahan doesn't have our players, or he would have beaten us 1,000-0."

As most things that happened during the fog of the Davis-Kiffin standoff, that incident is mired in secrecy.  What is known is that Kiffin suspended Hanson, whilst publicly claiming that he was away for "personal reasons." Davis did not agree with the suspension, and used that as further evidence of Kiffin's insubordination.

There hasn't even been any rumors emerging about what Hanson may have said or done that would have set off Cable. However, what is quite remarkable is that twice inside a year a "defensive assistant" who was formerly a "defensive backs assistant" has been the subject of headlines due to conflicts with the head coach.

I think this whole scenario is being blown out of proportion...so 2 guys got into a little scuffle. Let them 2 work it out, and let's move on with our season! We don't need distrations.....RAIDERS OVER NINERS like nothing!!!

I went to high school with Hansen. He had a well deserved reputation as a first class jerk. I seem to remember a teacher taking a swing at him too so cable is not the first.
