The question is not if torture is effective, but if it's legal, moral, what we want it to define the American soul. Giving everyone a gun and telling them to shoot anyone who approached their house would be effective is controlling home burglaries. But that, like torture, is not who we are.
President Obama’s Special Advisor for Green Jobs is a man named Van Jones. For whatever reason, conservatives have latched onto him and are using him to “prove” Obama is a communist. Just for the record, Jones says that in 1992 (when he was 24) he “became a communist”. But, “By 2005, Jones had begun promoting eco-capitalism”. “Capitalism” is, you know, not “communism”.
(UPDATE: Jones resigned September 5th, citing "Vicious smears", so as not to be a distraction as health care reform gets serious.)

Labor Unions are good for you. You might contemplate that as you drive home from work at 5:00 rather than walk to your company town abode at 10:00PM; in a car you could buy because you make more than $10 a day; uninjured (we assume) because you employer is required to provide you with a safe and healthy workplace.
