Rams are everywhere; it seems like they're very nearly everywhere. These mountain-wandering Rams tonight are from Fordham where a mountain goat can climb a skyscraper in a stressful moment to get a look from on high. The Fordham Rams replace the Rhode Island Rams in a recurring dream we've been having...our VCU Rams beat the Rhodies in Kingston, Rhode Island last Wednesday and stole the New York City thunder from these goats from just off-Broadway in Brooklyn from the goat-go...Fordham never led in this game.

As the game got going tonight the Virginia Commonwealth Rams, 17-5 and 5-2 in A-10 play got the better of the Fordham Rams, 6-15 and 2-4 in A-10 play...the first half showed how you win a game in this microcosm: a half of the game. The victories don't always go to who shot a better percentage and in this half-game the VCU Rams were out-shot percentage-wise. Their victories in whole games this season have come by gaining more possessions and in the first half tonight against Fordham they forced 11 opponent turnovers while giving it away on just three of their own possessions. VCU out-shot Fordham 39-27 in raw shots...they translated those attempts into a huge 21 three-point shots in the first half to Fordham's 11 threes...the score at intermission was VCU 38 Fordham 33. The VCU Rams forced 22 turnovers for the game including 13 of them from steals.
The second half proved that VCU could put together two halves as they continued to out-quick Fordham; VCU forced a ton of turnovers that VCU continually turned into three-point shots...for the game VCU shot an amazing 35 threes: they went 13-35 from long distance. The bruising inside game the Fordham Rams played showed in the stats as VCU went 11-35 on shots inside-the-arc. These New Yorkers play a bruising style. The turnovers that VCU forced--22 of them--gave the Rams a chance to build the lead to 24 points in the second half. VCU coasted to victory allowing Fordham to cut into the huge lead...VCU beat Fordham, 81-65.
Troy Daniels shot 7-14 from three-point distance which accounted for 21 of his 29 points.
