After spending 10 miserable days (although to the team and head coach Jeff Fisher, it may have seemed like a hundred) waiting for the chance to get back on the field after suffering a completely energy deflating and disheartening 35-11 loss to the rival San Francisco 49ers two Thursdays ago, the St. Louis Rams will finally return to action on Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome, with a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And man oh man, do the Rams need a win.
They've lost three in a row -- each in seemingly worse fashion than the one before it -- and now find themselves ranked among the worst teams in the league, with a 1-3 record.
But relief could come on Sunday, as the Jaguars come to town with an 0-4 mark, and the league-wide belief that they might be the absolute worst team in the league.
Jacksonville is most certainly the league's worst club on offense, where they average just 224.0 yards a game.
That's more than 30 yards per game less than the second-worst offense in the league (Tampa Bay), and the Jags are also the lowest-scoring team in the league, with only 31 total points scored all season, which through four games, adds up to just over a touchdown per outing.
Last week, Jacksonville got spanked 37-3 at home by Indianapolis, and that was coming off the heels of a 45-17 defeat two weeks ago in Seattle.
There's really no other way to say it, the Jags are a bad football team, and the Rams are hoping to fix their own woes against them, while also extending Jacksonville's troubles for at least one more week.
