Ramone Collection Auctioned, Patti Smith Honored with Hepburn Medal

A record collection once owned by the late Joey Ramone is set to go up for auction beginning February 14th, according to Billboard.

The collection includes a vinyl collection that included albums from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Human League, and Iggy Pop. Also set to be auctioned off are a set of personal items and memorabilia including a passport, two guitars, and items of clothes (which includes a leather jacket, and over 140 T-Shirts from bands including Nirvana). All items will include a letter of authenticity from the Joey Ramone estate. The auction runs through February 21st, and there will be a minimum bid of $500.

Meanwhile in other music news, Patti Smith was honored with the Hepburn medal by Bryn Mawr College, a women’s liberal arts school in Philadelphia. The rock icon was recognized for her role as a rock ‘n’ roll trailblazer, and for influencing numerous generations, especially women. Among the highlights that were recognized included Smith’s 1975 landmark debut Horses, and her National Book Award-winning memoir Just Kids.

The Hepburn medal is named after the late actress, who herself was a graduate of Bryn Mawr, is an honor bestowed on women whose works help change the world .
