Gillette® [NYSE: PG] has announced a project with the NFL Media group to debut Gillette Clear Gel's "Built for Training" program that will feature Pittsburgh Steelers Ramon Foster and rookie Mike Golic, Jr. The webisodes feature veteran/rookie-parings in a six-installment web series aimed at giving sports fans an inside look at NFL Training Camp through the eyes of the players.

“At NFL Training Camp, ‘give everything’ is just part of the drill; ‘smell nothing’ is usually not, which is why Gillette brought these talented players together to put their bodies and Gillette Clear Gel to the test,” said Doug Sticksel, associate brand manager, Gillette Personal Care . “These athletes have to thrive under pressure and through challenging workouts, so their deodorant should do the same. Designed with the high-performing man in mind, only Gillette Clear Gel eliminates body odor at the source, even during tough physical demands – such as NFL Training Camp.”

While a new antiperspirant seems like an unusual way to focus on football, the interaction between Foster and Golic, Jr. is sure to be an amazing way to see through their eyes what training camp is really like from the inside. The idea is to show that these players are giving everything they have to succeed. The fact that Foster and Golic, Jr., were picked may be an indication of how notable the new offensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers is, especially to die-hard Steelers fans.

The episodes will also showcase veteran/rookie pairings of Denver Broncos defensive backs Champ Bailey and Kayvon Webster and running backs BenJarvis Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard of the Cincinnati Bengals. In addition, Gillette Clear Gel's "Built for Training" webisodes will focus on workouts, training sessions, team huddles, player introductions, camp arrivals and meal times.

The episodes, produced by NFL Films, will run as an exclusive feature on NFL.com. Weekly installments will be posted each Tuesday through September 3. Episode one is already online as is episode two. The full schedule includes:

  • August 6 – Episode 1
  • August 13 – Episode 2
  • August 20 – Episode 3
  • August 27 – Episode 4
  • September 3 – Episode 5

Gillette is also offering football enthusiasts a unique opportunity to score an even deeper look inside NFL Training Camp. Gillette will allow submitted questions through Gillette's Facebook and Twitter account to fans' favorite athlete pairings about training tips and exercises, mentorship and lessons learned in the NFL. Gillette will air the athletes' most popular questions during a "fan interview". To see the special interviews, you can visit Gillette's YouTube channel, their Facebook page and via Twitter. Additionally, viewers can submit their own most-grueling exercises to Gillette via Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag, #BuiltforTraining. The top fan-submitted exercises will be compiled with the responses from the veteran/rookie pairings to develop a Gillette Training Manual - a fitness guide for athletes of any sport to get their own bodies into top-level training. Gillette is a part of the Proctor & Gamble company.
