The Olathe Chamber of Commerce has announced the members of its 2013 Board of Directors, including the appointment of its newly elected chairman, Ramin Cherafat, vice president, operations and partner at McCownGordon Construction.
Cherafat replaces Lori Tinkler, chief operating officer at Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc., who has served as chair for the past two years. Chair elect of the 32-member Board of Directors is Nicolle Welsh, shared services support manager at Farmers Insurance.
“Under Ramin’s leadership of the Chamber’s Economic Development Council last year, the Olathe Chamber and the City of Olathe worked together to report the strongest year in industrial growth in the city’s history,” said Tinkler. “His economic development background, combined with his unique blend of strategic, operational and people know-how, is the perfect combination of skills needed to lead this Board.”
“Olathe has experienced some incredible achievements in recent years and has tremendous civic and business assets,” Cherafat said. “So much has already been accomplished by this Board under the leadership of Lori, and I’m honored to be able to lead this esteemed organization that plays such an important role in growing Olathe and establishing the city as a leader in the Kansas City metropolitan area.”
Cherafat joined McCownGordon Construction in 2000. In 2008, he was named one of Ingram’s “Forty Under 40,” and received the same honor in Building Design and Construction Magazine in 2010.
He has been involved with numerous civic and community organizations, including most recently the Kansas City Civic Council KC Tomorrow Leadership program, Association of General Contractors – Kansas City, Kansas City Symphony Business Council and the Ronald McDonald House Red Shoe Society of Kansas City.
