Ramen burger: Could ramen, the popular Japanese noodles served in a meat- or fish-based broth, double as a burger bun? It’s just crazy enough to be the next big food craze, reports ABC News on Aug. 20.
If the burger tastes nearly as good as it looks in the picture, I think the answer is going to be a hearty ‘yes.’
According to Fox News, the ramen burger is “USDA prime beef burger stuffed between two buns made of fried ramen, topped with ‘secret’ shoyu sauce, flavor-infused arugula and scallions.”
The eastern and western fusion burger was rolled out at Brooklyn’s Smorgasburg food fair a few weeks ago. A “ramen enthusiast,” 35-year-old Keizo Shimamoto, created the dish, which has been growing in notoriety in food circles since its debut.
“I wanted do something with beef. I grew up loving ramen, and I grew up loving burgers,” Keizo said.

The burger creator insists on using only freshly-made ramen noodles from a supplier, not the pre-packaged fare that one would buy at any local supermarket.
“I cook the noodles and form the bun, and then when we put the burger together, we lightly pan fry it,” Keizo said.
The ramen burger – Definitely on my wish list of things to try.
