John Rambo appears headed to the small screen, but you’ll be seeing a different face playing the iconic role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, independent studio Entertainment One has inked a deal with Nu Image to develop and produce a TV show based on the Rambo property.
Entertainment One initially stated that they were in negotiations with Stallone to be involved in a creative capacity and conceivably reprise the role that proved there might be life after “Rocky” for the muscular star. According to THR, Stallone’s reps have allowed that the actor might be involved in an unspecified creative capacity (Stallone has written or co-written all the Rambo movies), but will not reprise the role for television.
This would appear to open the door for a younger Rambo. Stallone is 66. His first appearance as the character was in 1982’s “First Blood,” based on the novel of the same name by David Morrell.
Entertainment One and Nu Image will develop the series and shop it to broadcasters in the U.S. and internationally.
