NCIS continues to bring out the big guest stars as Ralph Waite joins the cast this week to reprise his role of Jackson Gibbs in season eleven's seventh episode 'Better Angels'. Waite, 85, is best known for his role as John Walton on the CBS series The Waltons. Waite's Jackson Gibbs character was initially introduced in the NCIS season six episode 'Heartland'.
In 'Better Angels', written by Gina Monreal and directed by Tony Wharmby, Supervisory Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) leaves in the middle of a case to help dad Jackson reconnect with a former war pilot. As a result, Agents DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and McGee (Sean Murray) argue over who should take point on their latest murder investigation.
It isn't clear why McGee thinks that he should run the case when DiNozzo has always been Gibbs' Senior Field Agent. It will be interesting to see the dynamic between these two as they work through the situation.
