Filippa Hamilton says that she has been a model for Ralph Lauren for the past eight years, and was recently fired for being fat. They didn’t tell her directly, but told her agency, she said. Filippa Hamilton wasn’t upset about being let go, until she saw the distorted image of herself on the Ralph Lauren website. The photo makes her head look much bigger than her body. Ralph Lauren’s office did claim responsibility for the distorted image and admitted their mistake.
The Today Show interviewed Filippa Hamilton this morning, along with her attorney and the editor of Cosmo magazine. According to an attorney, Ralph Lauren wrote a letter that stated, “We are terminating your services because you don’t fit into the sample clothes you need to wear.” Hamilton said that she didn’t have any problems fitting into the clothes.
Hamilton is 5’10, weighs 120 pounds, and is a size 4 and 23 years old. She claims that her weight has not fluctuated in the eight years she’s worked there. Lizzie Miller is a plus size (12) model who has gained much media attention lately with her nude photo in Glamour magazine last month. For more on that story and to see her photo, click here.
The editor of Cosmo magazine who was also part of the interview, offered Filippa Hamilton an 8 page spread in Cosmo, the editor said with a laugh. The only Ralph Lauren store in Utah is in Park City.
