Atlanta fans of actor Ralph Fiennes, the handsome actor attended the New York premiere of Coriolanus at the Paris Theater earlier today, January 17, 2012.
Ralph Fiennes, who played Caius Martius Coriolanu in the title role, looked polished in his dark suit with a blue shirt and matching dark tie – very Yves Saint Laurent at least in the color palette – not sure if the ensemble was by that fashion house though!
Costar Jessica Chastain, who played Virgilia, love interest of Coriolanus, wore a black lace gown with what appeared to be a pearl grey satin lining and a fairly luxurious train but this was a red carpet event!
Vanessa Redgrave, who played Volumnia, mother of Coriolanus, kept things low-key in a monochrome black ensemble – the coat was nice though – and those smoky eyes looked great on her, paired with the pale, neutral lips.
Also attending were musician Patti Smith, actress Susan Sarandon, actors Fisher Stevens (loved the pin-striped suit and dapper fedora!) and James Earl Jones.
Bases on the tragedy by William Shakespeare,Coriolanus also stars Gerard Butler as Tullus Aufidius, Brian Cox as Menenius, and very many Yugoslavians from every part of the former Republic.
The plot which was originally set in ancient Rome, is now centered around the banishment of Coriolanus from a modern Balkan-type country, upon losing favor of politicians. Most intriguing indeed…
The design of his dress blue uniform is quite like that of the US Marines, isn’t it? There are probably all sorts of interesting correlations made in the film to captivate all sorts of audiences as well!
Enjoy my slide show meanwhile, until you can head off to your local metro Atlanta cinema to catch Coriolanus for yourselves…
