This story has created an internet buzz because the couple appeared on the ABC reality TV show Wife Swap. They were portrayed as a couple who pampered their daughter, Alicia and gave her a present every day. One of which include a brand new Chevy Tahoe even before she was old enough to drive. Karen was swapped with another wife from a religious home in Indiana. The lavish lifestyle of the Guastaferro’s and the fact that Alicia Guastaferro was a pre-school beauty queen, drew national attention when the Wife Swap episode aired.
In addition to money laundering charges, the Guastaferro’s owned a glass tinting shop, and paid workers $370,396 off the books, not reporting the $56,670 they owed in taxes.
