With the ever-growing popularity of home schooling in the Triangle and all of the possibilities of activities going on in the area, it is nice to have someplace that you can go that lists it all. Region 8 of the NCHE is fortunate enough to have a representative who not only thought of this on our behalf, but has maintained it for over ten years. David and Sharon Henderson are the representatives of our region and Sharon is the moderator/creator of Spice-line.
Spice-line is an on-line group through Yahoo Groups. It is a fully-moderated, Christian based loop that provides information and encouragement to homeschooling families in the Triangle area and surrounding counties in North Carolina. As with all Yahoo Groups, you do need to subscribe to Spice-line in order to get information. So what kind of information will you get from this group? The possibililities are endless. If there is an activity going on pretty much anywhere in the state that is educational, it will be listed on Spice-line. If there are seminars or workshops that are geared for home schoolers, it will be listed on Spice-line. Do you have a question about anything pertaining to home schooling? You, as a member, can post it on Spice-line.
One of the greatest resources that you can find on the loop is where enrichment classes are being offered. Enrichment classes can be anything from guitar lessons, art lessons, and karate, to academic classes like algebra and creative writing. Classes are offered in many different locations throughout our area and having some place to go to like Spice-line you are most likely going to find a class that is closest to you.
