Rake Autumn/Winter 2013 takes inspiration from vintage films and art! (Photos)

Designer Clive Darby Rake presented his Rake Autumn/Winter 2013 collection in a stunning fashion show for London Collections: MEN AW13 at Tramp on January 8, 2013 in London, England.

Rake Autumn/Winter 2013 is all about sophistication and polish, incorporating well-cut velvet jackets, tailored suit jackets paired with sweaters and mixing textures such as corduroy trousers with wool-blend jackets.

Colorful wool scarves add interest and as do the colorful trousers in verdant green, turquoise (as teamed with brown, grey and red) and orange.

Something unique in this Rake collection is the leather look turtlenecks, sometimes with knit collars, that are interestingly worn with tailored jackets.

Designer Clive Darby began his Rake label in 2009 along with a team of talented individuals in response to trends that were taking place in the international menswear markets.

He seems to have delivered an aesthetically appealing line of menswear clothing that caters to fashion needs, while staying right on trend.

Speaking to GQ (Gentlemen’s Quarterly) magazine, Darby stated that in designing his Autumn/Winter 2013 collection he took inspiration from Gunter Sachs and his Pop Art collection in St Moritz as well as David Niven’s “Phantom” in the “Pink Panther” film.

As to whom he would like to see his collection on, Darby answered, “David Niven, Peter Sellers, Serge Gainsbourg, Peter Beard…the list is never-ending!”

The Rake collection goes from “après-ski to penthouse apartment, catering to the needs of the playboy at his most romantic!” We cannot agree more…
