Rajon Rondo to Knicks trade rumors have suddenly sprung up. A Boston Celtics trade of Rondo to the New York Knicks is apparently what the franchise wants to have happen. A report from CBS Sports on Friday (Dec. 27) states that the team hopes the former All-Star point guard will try to force a trade to only one city (New York).
This information has apparently come from a leak in the front office, but it is also in stark contradiction to what owner James Dolan had been saying to the team. In fact, it was only earlier this week when he told the team that no deals were going to be made and that coach Mike Woodson would be staying in place. This was reported on Examiner, suggesting the team was happy with its current roster.
There are a lot of questions about tampering that might emerge from this new situation, especially since teams aren't allowed to talk about or talk to opposing players about wanting to acquire them. Leaking information that a Rajon Rondo to Knicks trade would be welcomed by the franchise might get the point guard interested, but it also might anger the front office of the Boston Celtics enough to not do it.
While there is still a lot of time before the NBA trade deadline hits, it is clear that an All-Star point guard is going to remain at the top of the list when it comes to the rumors. Whether something actually takes place is another question entirely, especially since there are conflicting reports about the intent of the New York Knicks as a franchise.
