According to the programming assistant for ch 41.1 KMYT in Tulsa on Aug. 7, 2014, syndicated reruns of 'Raising Hope' are coming to Tulsa TV. The show starts airing on Saturdays on Sept. 27, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. followed by another episode at 4:30 p.m. It replaces “Cougar Town” which was supposed to air then. The weekend edition of “Cougar Town” has been moved to 3:30 a.m. Currently the shows scheduled for 4 p.m. and 4: 30 p.m. on Saturdays has been “Modern Family” and “The Middle” which usually is preempted by a movie that is scheduled to go over.
“Raising Hope” is a thirty minute sitcom created by Greg Garcia who created “My Name is Earl”. “Raising Hope”, like “Earl” is about a small town filled with unsophisticated quirky characters. It concentrates on the Chance family with Lucas Neff who plays Jimmy Chance. (spoiler alert) Jimmy was driving home and he meets a girl, Lucy (Bijou Phillips), that desperately needs a ride. They end up having sex and she gets pregnant. She however is a notorious serial killer and is locked up. She gives birth to the baby named Hope (Baylie/Rylie Cregut) and Jimmy has to raise her. Jimmy's father Burt (Garret Dillahunt) is a landscaper and his mother Virginia (Martha Plimpton) cleans houses. Jimmy who has been helping his dad with the landscaping has to get a job at the local grocery store named Howdy's. There he gets closer to the checker Sabrina (Shannon Woodward). Sabrina has a boyfriend and Jimmy has a baby so they can't get together. Comedy Great Cloris Leachman plays Virginia's grandmother Maw Maw who is suffering from dementia. '
The main theme of the show (spoiler alert) is that Jimmy doesn't like his life and he blames his parents who did outrageous things but the pitfalls of what could have been are usually worse than what he has now. Sabrina has rich parents but can't stand them while Jimmy is close to his parents. Jimmy was actually switched at birth but his rich birth parents are racists.
