Since opening at the end of October 2013, Oso Market and Bar is fast establishing itself as a European style lighter restaurant focusing, a speciality market, and a wine and beer bar. They chose to locate on 726 E. Grand Avenue in the Southeast Industrial section of Portland as this area affords easy access to people coming from out of town via the highway or streetcar.
Their lunch and dinner menus highlight the food and wines from Southern France. Some locals stop by for their lunch menu consisting mostly of salads though dinner represents the bigger hook. Be sure to try Oso's Specialty, montaditos, a type of the popular bite-sized bar snacks in Spain in which small slices of bread are topped, or 'mounted', with a variety of ingredients.
Singles and those wishing to socialize gather around the bar while those desiring more private conversations find a table off in a corner. During the warmer months, patrons can be found outside during happy hour savoring a glass of wine as the sun sets.
Sign up for their newsletter and be kept apprised of their events such as wine and beer tastings. Also they offer a wine club offering 3, 6 or 12 bottles per month.
Oso Market and Bar is open from Tuesday-Thursday from 11am to10pm; Friday-Saturday from 11am to 11pm and Sunday from 1am to 7pm.
