“Rain, rain, go away! Come again some other day!” If only it were that easy to stop the rain. Especially while on vacation. Finding something to do indoors during a passing rain storm can be a bit challenging. Even more challenging if you are not familiar with the area you are vacationing in. That is why I have compiled this list of things families can do indoors while vacationing in the Vero Beach area.
Spend the day indoors at Crazy Frogs where kids can bounce in a variety of bounce houses, play video games and win prizes. There is plenty of space for the adults to sit, relax and talk while the kids run around. Crazy Frogs offers complimentary Wi-Fi.
Crazy Frogs is located on US Highway 1 in Vero Beach near Vero Bowl. For more information call 772.569.2881 or visit MyCrazyFrogs.com.
Indian River Citrus Museum
Discover the story behind the citrus industry in the Vero Beach area at the Indian River Citrus Museum. The story is told through artifacts, photographs and other memorabilia. The Citrus Museum is located in Downtown Vero Beach on 14th Avenue. For more information call 772.770.2263 or visit VeroHeritage.org.
Environmental Learning Center
Tough the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is not the best place to visit when it is expected to rain all day long, it can be an exciting adventure even when scattered showers are rolling through the area. The ELC is home to an indoor museum near the entrance and a wet lab where kids can interact with many different hands-on activities, including a touch tank When the showers stop, there is a walking path that heads down to the Indian River Lagoon, a native plant garden and a butterfly garden.
The ELC is located at 225 Live Oak Drive in Vero Beach. For more information call 772.589.5050 or visit DiscoverELC.org.
There are two treasure museums, both offering a chance to get out of the rain and explore the treasure hidden within. The McLarty Treasure Museum and the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum have authentic artifacts recovered from the Spanish ships that have sunk off the shores of Florida.
The McLarty Treasure Museum is located on Highway A1A in Vero Beach. For more information call 772.589.2147. The Mel Fisher Treasure Museum is located on US Highway 1 in Sebastian. For more information call 772.589.2147 or visit MelFisher.com.
Indian River Mall
There is more to the Indian River Mall than just shopping. Kids can play in the arcade and win prizes or you can spend the afternoon watching movies at AMC Theaters. There is also a food court and a TGI Fridays where you can enjoy your time avoiding the rain.
The Indian River Mall is located on State Route 60 in Vero Beach. For more information call 772.770.9404.
I hope this list helps you enjoy your Vero Beach vacation a little bit more…even when it is raining
