Colorado is receiving some moisture. While this may put a damper on your outdoor activities, hit the gym to get in shape for the ski season. It is hard to duplicate or replicate the exact movements in skiing and snowboarding. However, strengthen the muscles for next season, will help you get a jump start.

Here are 3 exercises that can help you get ready for next season.

  1. Squats. Learning how to do a squat correctly will help you get in shape for next season. You can use dumb bells or a bar bell. Start off focusing on the form and then add weight. You want to focus on powering up through your heels and keeping your back straight. The lower you can go, the better you will be to tackle moguls or the unforeseen bump when you hit the slopes next year.
  2. Leg curls using a stability ball. Using a stability ball, lay on your back and place your heels on the ball. Raise your hips off the ground and bring the stability ball closer to your butt. For added difficulty, clasp your hands and hold your arms straight over your face. This will help engage your core while working your hamstrings and gluts
  3. Dumbbell Lunges. Lunge forward and bend your knee. Don't let your trailing leg or knee touch the ground. This will engage your core and require you to balance while lunging forward. Power off your front foot and come back to two feet standing.

Follow these simple exercises and your legs will thank you after your first day out next season.
