Rain likely today and tonight with improving weather expected by mid week

Low pressure over western Tennessee this morning, will move northeast to Ohio by this evening. Clouds will continue to lower and thicken this morning, and rain will spread northward across the area this afternoon.

Occasional rain will continue through tonight as the low moves into the eastern Great Lakes. The rain will taper to scattered showers by morning.

On Tuesday, an upper level trough will move eastward across the region. It will remain somewhat unsettled with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers possible.

High pressure will build toward the area Tuesday night, bringing an end to the shower activity. Sunshine and dry conditions will return on Wednesday.

Here is the forecast: For today, cloudy with rain likely. Highs will be in the low 50s. Winds SE 10-15 mph.

Tonight, cloudy with showers likely. Lows will be around 40. Winds S 10-20 mph.

Tuesday, mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs will be in the low 50s. Winds W 10-20 mph.

Tuesday night, mostly cloudy with a few showers possible during the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows will be in the low 30s.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs around 50.

Extended Analysis: High pressure will control the weather across northeastern Ohio Wednesday night through Thursday. As the high shifts to our east on Thursday, warmer air will overspread the region and temperatures will climb to near 70.

A cold front will move across the region Thursday night and Friday bringing another round of showers and cooler temperatures.

High pressure will build back across the region on Saturday with fair, dry weather returning.

Thursday will be partly sunny with highs near 70.

Thursday night, becoming cloudy with a chance of showers. Lows will be in the low to mid 40s.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs will reach the mid 50s.

Friday night, mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 30s.

Saturday will be partly sunny with highs in the low 60s.
