After a beautiful weekend across the state, rain will return by late tonight and early Tuesday morning, as the wet weather trend continues across the state.
A solid shield of rain was spreading slowly to the east Monday afternoon across Eastern Texas, Western Louisiana, and Western Arkansas.
This rain activity formed along and out ahead of a frontal boundary, situated to the west of the state and a developing low pressure area in the Western Gulf of Mexico.

This system will shift to the east tonight, spreading moderate to occasional heavy rains across the state, especially during the morning on Tuesday.
A few locations could receive over one inch of rainfall, while most areas will average between one half and one inch of rainfall by Tuesday afternoon.

The rainfall should progress through fairly quickly with most areas drying out by Tuesday evening and or Tuesday night.
A more significant system will affect the state by the end of the week with the potential of severe storms and heavy rainfall.
This system will continue to be monitored closely as the week progresses.
Everyone should stay updated on the latest weather information as it becomes available.
