According to TSN, the Okotoks Raiders have been eliminated from the 2013 Minto Cup. On Monday, the Raiders lost 16-9 to the host New Westminster Salmonbellies in the junior men's national lacrosse championship.
Nathan Stewart led the Salmonbellies with five goals, while Anthony Malcolm led New Westminster with seven assists. Stewart and Malcolm each notched seven points.
The Salmonbellies completely dominated the early stages of the first and third periods of the contest. They scored the first four goals of the first frame and the first five goals of the final stanza.
The Raiders dropped to 0-3 with the loss and were eliminated from the tournament. In their three defeats, the Raiders were outscored 43-18.
The Salmonbellies, Whitby Warriors and Coquitlam Adanacs will now play for the title. The second and third place teams from the round robin will play on Tuesday with the winner playing the round robin champion in a best of five series starting Thursday. The Mann Cup, awarded to the senior men's lacrosse champion in Canada starts September 6 in a best out of seven series.
