Raiders' Desmond Bryant arrested: Player faces criminal mischief charge

News is out that Desmond Bryant was arrested Sunday on a charge of criminal mischief. The Oakland Raiders defensive tackle was booked Sunday morning at 9:24 a.m. in Florida, and he was held on $1,000 bond. Sports Illustrated's Tracking Blog shared the details on Feb. 25.

Some early reports indicated it was Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant who had been arrested, but he was quick to dispel those rumors via his Twitter page. Zak Gilbert, a spokesman for the Raiders, says that the team is aware that Desmond Bryant was arrested and they are still gathering information.

The San Francisco Chronicle details that Desmond Bryant's arrest was related to his causing a ruckus at a neighbor's house while he was drunk. So far a police report doesn't seem to be available. In the grand scheme of NFL players finding themselves in legal trouble, this one doesn't sound like it will turn into all that much of a story, but people are definitely curious about exactly what happened.

Desmond Bryant has played for four seasons with the Oakland Raiders, and he is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 12. Given the details available so far on Desmond Bryant's arrest, it seems unlikely the incident will hamper his chances of making a solid deal for next season.
