Raiders and Buffaloes win at Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament Saturday

According to the Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament website, the Calgary Buffaloes in the boys' division and the Highwood Raiders in the girls' division recorded victories on day three of the 2013-14 Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament in Calgary on Saturday.

The Buffaloes got two goals from Jackson McKinstry in a 5-1 victory over the South Island Royals out of Victoria, British Columbia. Logan Thompson also came up big with 18 saves. With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 1-0-1 and into second place in Pool 5. However, they will have a tough test tonight at the Max Bell Center when they face the Finnish U-17 team who has outscored their opponents 31-4 in three victories to date.

In girls action, the Highwood Raiders, located about 40 minutes south of Calgary in High River, defeated the Lloydminster PWM Steelers 4-2. Gabrielle Seper led the Raiders' offensive attack with one goal and one assist. The Raiders improve to 2-0 in Pool 6 and will play the Kootenay Wildcats at the Max Bell Center tonight.
