Raiders advance to semis of Mac's midget hockey tournament

According to the Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament website, the Highwood Raiders, based out of High River, Alberta (forty minutes south of Calgary) have advanced to the female semi-finals of the Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Raiders improved to 4-0 in the round robin with a 3-1 win over the Melville Fox FM Prairie Fire. Gabrielle Seper led the Raiders with a goal and an assist. The Raiders will now play the Fraser Valley Phantom in one semi-final, with the Westman Wildcats (out of Hartney, Manitoba) playing the Edmonton Thunder in the other semi-final.

In the male quarterfinals, the Regina Pat Canadians are playing an under-17 team from Switzerland, the Sherwood Park J Ennis Kings are playing the Notre Dame Argos, the Okanagan Rockets are playing the South Side Athletic Club Boston Pizza Athletics (based out of Edmonton) and the Finland under-17 team will play the Alaska Junior Aces. All Calgary-based teams have been knocked out on the male side.

The semi-finals for the boys will take place at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Max Bell Centre, with the finals for the boys and girls taking place tomorrow at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
