Last week on Days, Daniel met Carly at the Cheatin’ Heart to show her the diamond bracelet he bought Chloe for her birthday. Daniel said he was excited to tell everyone that Chloe was having a baby and was relieved her first trimester was over. Carly looked noticeably uncomfortable but blamed it on working too many hours at the hospital. After Carly left, Chloe met Daniel at the bar where he gave her a silver spoon and cup set for the baby. Chloe got emotional, blaming her happiness, and excused herself to go to the restroom. Sister Ann came over and said hello to Daniel. Daniel asked what she was doing at a bar. Sister Ann said she’d picked up a 15 year old patient’s mother to be with the girl while she was in labor. Daniel asked Sister Ann to stay to meet his fiancée when she came out of the restroom.
Chloe started to walk back to the table, noticed Sister Ann, and hid. Carly came back to the bar after she realized she’d forgotten her glasses. Noticing Sister Ann at the table and Chloe hiding, Carly approached the table and distracted Daniel and Sister Ann. Sister Ann said she needed to go but hoped to meet Daniel’s fiancée some other time. Daniel got a call and asked Carly to make sure Chloe was all right. Chloe thanked Carly for covering for her again. Outside the bar, they talked about the close call. Chloe said she just wanted to know the results of the paternity test. Carly told Chloe she’d pick her up first thing in the morning. Daniel appeared, asking what they were up to. Chloe said that Carly was taking her for facials and manicures for her birthday so they could make an effort to get along for Daniel’s sake.
As Stephanie tried to access the results of Chloe’s paternity test at St. Ann's Hospital, Melanie appeared and asked what she was doing there. Stephanie said she was working on something for the facial reconstructive surgery Daniel was doing. Stephanie asked what Melanie was doing there. Melanie said she had a job interview at the hospital. Stephanie wished her luck. When Melanie left, Stephanie realized she wouldn’t be able to get access to the records. She quickly made a call. Melanie decided to volunteer at the free clinic. Phillip was worried about her, but she insisted she’d be fine… especially when she saw that Nathan was the doctor on staff. When a man came in demanding drugs, Melanie told him they weren’t that kind of clinic. He tried to strangle her, but Nathan stepped in and attacked him. The man ran away, Nathan comforting Melanie.
Daniel woke up Chloe on her birthday with a rose, telling her he had a lot of surprises for her. Chloe got ready to meet Carly to find out the results of the test. Daniel gave Chloe her diamond bracelet and told her he had taken the whole day off so they could be together. Carly showed up at the door, annoyed that Chloe hadn’t met her. She realized Daniel was home and told Chloe that she’d go to the hospital and get the results herself. Carly thanked her. Melanie and Phillip showed up to surprise Chloe for her birthday, bringing a cake and gifts. Chloe was touched but looked at Phillip nervously. When Melanie gave Chloe her gift, she told her that she cared about her and her baby brother or sister and wanted them all to be a real family. Chloe burst into tears, causing Phillip to say that they were probably tears of joy. Chloe said that they were and she just wanted things to be this way always.
Stephanie called her friend Ian to come over and help her get into the hospital’s system so she could see the results of Chloe’s paternity test. Ian showed up and promised to help after Stephanie flirted with him. As he was trying to access the hospital’s records, Nathan got home from the clinic and demanded to know who Ian was. Nathan quickly apologized, explaining that what had happened to Melanie had shaken him up. Stephanie joked that whoever attacked Melanie must have known her well. Ian got into the server but told Stephanie the results weren’t in. The next morning, Stephanie rushed Nathan out the door and then called Ian to come back over. Nathan came back after forgetting something and was surprised to see Ian still there. When Nathan left for work, Ian finally got accessed the records. Stephanie’s eyes widened as she read the results of the test.
At the courthouse, Hope’s public defender asked why she’d chosen him when she easily could’ve paid for a lawyer. Hope said she didn’t want to waste time or money when she knew she was guilty and was ready to pay for her crimes. Doug, Julie and Bo begged her to change her mind, but Hope refused. When the arraignment started, Hope pled guilty, but a number of character witnesses pleaded for a break on her behalf. The judge was surprised that so many of Hope’s victims defended her. Arianna took the stand and said that Hope had framed her for what she’d done, noting that Hope was getting special treatment. The judge said she’d take that into consideration.
The prosecutor suggested Hope be charged with 30 years in prison. Given the evidence and the character witnesses, the judge sentenced Hope to two years. When Bo apologized for not being there for her, Hope insisted that he was. She said she only got two years because of him and was grateful. Hope went to say goodbye to Bo but he said, “See you soon, Fancy Face.”
Stefano walked in on Sami and EJ kissing and apologized for interrupting. As they discussed the wedding, Will walked in and asked, “So this train wreck is really going to happen?” He mocked his mother, asking if she was going to wear a white dress and marry in a Catholic church. After Will left, Sami said it was a walk in the park compared to telling her family. EJ offered to go with her and she wondered if that was a good idea. Sami called Caroline and Roman and asked them to meet her at the pub. Later, Stefano told Will that the idea of Sami and EJ getting married didn’t make him happy either… at first. But he said he’d come around and that Will was a fine young man he wanted to get to know better. Will asked if Stefano was proud of him and was pleased when Stefano said he was.
Sami broke the news to Roman and Caroline that she’d accepted EJ’s proposal. Roman accused her of going crazy. EJ said he understood why Roman felt that way… because he loved Sami. He said that, now that he had a daughter, he realized that he’d want to rip any man’s head off who didn’t treat Sydney well… like he didn’t treat Sami well. He hoped that, if Sydney saw him treat her mother well, eventually she’d grow up and find a man who respected her. EJ said he was ready to be the man Sami deserved. Caroline asked to speak to Sami alone, but Sami refused, saying she and EJ had to go get their marriage license.
Brady and Nicole started to kiss in the living room of the Kiriakis mansion, Nicole asking him if he wanted to go somewhere more private. Brady pushed her away, saying that sex with her was a drug and he needed to kick his habit. He poured himself a drink and Nicole said the alcohol was to blame. Brady said the alcohol was good, she was bad, and asked her to leave. Nicole was devastated and went to the Cheatin’ Heart. As she waited for her drink, she started to cry. Rafe noticed her from outside, remembering Victor telling him to find Nicole’s weak spot and act like her knight in shining armor. Rafe went into the bar and tried to comfort Nicole, but Nicole threw a drink in his face. Rafe said that must have meant she wanted to be left alone and ordered a drink for himself.
A drunk man in the bar recognized Nicole from the porn she’d made as a teenager, sitting down and hitting on her. He called his friend, telling him he was sitting with Misty Circle. Mortified, Nicole asked him to leave her alone. Seizing the opportunity, Rafe stepped in, grabbing the guy and forcing him to hang up the phone and apologize to Nicole. After the man left, Nicole thanked Rafe and allowed him to sit with her. As they drank, they talked about Sami, EJ and Brady and how all they’d wanted was to find love. Rafe pretended to be drunk and sympathized with Nicole. Arianna entered the bar and was horrified to see Nicole fall onto Rafe’s lap. Rafe told Arianna to mind her own business. Nicole asked if Rafe was using her to get back at Sami. Rafe said he didn’t want to do that and offered to walk her home. Rafe kissed Nicole and asked if he could come in for a nightcap. When Nicole asked what she wanted from him, Rafe said he didn’t know and acted like he felt guilty. Finally, Nicole let him into her room.
Nicole was still suspicious of Rafe so she asked him to prove he was genuine by taking his clothes off. Rafe started to oblige, then said he felt guilty. Rafe said he understood why Nicole was suspicious, but he’d seen a different side of her lately and said she deserved better than to be used by men. Rafe started to talk about Sydney’s kidnapping, but Nicole didn’t want to talk about the past. Rafe and Nicole started kissing. Sami walked by and saw them kissing through the window. She’d been on her way to talk to Rafe about marrying EJ. She stared at them as Nicole called out Rafe’s name. After Sami disappeared, Nicole excused herself to go to the bathroom. When she came out, she said he wanted to be alone. Rafe said they should do it again sometime and started to leave. Nicole changed her mind, asking Rafe to get in bed and hold her. Rafe obliged. Sami rushed home and told EJ she wanted to marry him the very next day, saying she had an epiphany and that she loved him and wanted to be a family with their kids.
As soon as Nicole fell asleep, Rafe went through her purse and found the CD with the recording of EJ admitting to the kidnapping. When Nicole woke up in the morning, she noticed Rafe staring coldly at her and jokingly asked if their night of cuddling was over. Rafe held up the CD and said he was busted. Realizing she’d been duped, Nicole tried desperately to get the CD back. When Rafe refused to relent, Nicole cried and said that EJ would kill her. Just then, EJ called as he was preparing for his wedding to Sami, making sure everything was OK with her and his secret was safe. Nicole hung up and begged Rafe to help her. He said he’d do his best to protect her and keep her from going back to prison if she cooperated. After they listened to the CD, Rafe recorded Nicole’s confession. Meanwhile, Sami put on her wedding dress and prepared to marry EJ at the mansion.
