According to an April 26 post from FC Fighter, hard-hitting Brazilian phenom Rafael Silva (21-2) has been tapped to step in for the injured Eduardo Dantas to fight Joe "The Baddest Man on the Planet" Warren (10-3) in the Bellator 118 main event at Atlantic City's Revel. Dantas suffered a head injury during training, and he will be sidelined for an extended period of time.
Bellator MMA always has safety in mind when it comes to their fighters, so they deserve praise for keeping Dantas sidelined while he recovers from injury. In the meantime, Warren will fight Silva for Bellator's Interim Bantamweight Championship World Title belt on May 2 in Atlantic City. The fight will air live on Spike television, following free prelims on Spike.com.
Warren, 37, is riding a three-fight win streak, including wins over Travis Marx, Nick Kirk and Owen Evinger. As for the 29-year-old Silva, he hasn't lost since 2011. Silva has won two in a row since joining the Bellator roster last year. He hopes to making a statement against Warren.
In the Bellator 118 co-main, Andrey Koreshkov (15-1) fights Sam Oropeza (11-2) in a welterweight tournament semifinal bout. Also on the card, Marcos Galvao (15-6-1) takes on Thomas Vasquez (7-0) in a bantamweight feature fight. The Bellator 118 main card gets rounded out by a lightweight tilt pitting Liam McGeary (6-0) against Mike Mucitelli (6-0).
The Bellator 118 preliminary card features eight exciting bouts, including Amran Aliyev (3-2) vs. Kevin Roddy (13-15-1) and Mike Bannon (5-1) vs. Sidney Outlaw (2-0). The Bellator 118 prelims will be headlined by a fight between Gemiyale Adkins (8-6) and Dante Rivera (15-7).
Bellator 118 is also set to feature two middleweight feature fights on the preliminary card, as Jesus Martinez (8-5) fights Ryan Contaldi (7-7) and Tim Woods (6-4) battles Eugene Fadiora (13-1). Bellator 118 goes down May 2 in Atlantic City. Tickets are still available for the fights.
