RadioShack decries 'misrepresentation' by 'activist group' behind Glenn Beck boycott

As I've noted all along, many of the companies being targeted by the anti-Glenn Beck boycott aren't even sponsors of the FOX News program in the first place.

The radical black activist group Color for Change has mishandled the boycott practically from day one, calling on fellow leftists to boycott alleged Beck sponsors who have never had any connection to the program.

Other companies who were sponsoring Glenn Beck's show responded to the boycott by pulling their ads from all controversial cable TV programs, on the left and the right, which only hurts ostensible Color of Change allies like Keith Olbermann. In the current economy, low rated programs like Olbermann's can't afford to lose that precious revenue.

Now another target of the Glenn Beck boycott is left trying to clarify their position. After an article about the boycott appeared in the Christian Science Monitor this week, representatives from RadioShack sent the reporter a note, reproduced here:

Unfortunately, our policy and response to the matter have been misrepresented by the activist group involved. RadioShack does not advertise on Glenn Beck’s program and we have not advertised on his program, so there were no ads to cancel. The protesters have included RadioShack because one of our manufacturers advertises its “magicJack” product on Glenn Beck’s show, and the ads say “available at RadioShack.”

Leftists: stupid, lazy, incompetent -- as usual. What an embarrassing mess.

Yeah, it could be incompetence, but still 33 companies don't advertize on "Beck" anymore... that sounds VERY good to me... hehehehehehehe

  • um, Kathy? 2 years ago

How many radio listeners do you know who can tell a national ad from a local, and how many can distinguish a co-op from a regular buy?

"Leftists: stupid, lazy, incompetent -- as usual. What an embarrassing mess." I like this one, it has an air of oh, projection maybe?

Thanks you James Rucker and Van Jones. Beck's ratings keep going up so it doesn't matter which companies drop him, the boycott for CoC is an epic failure. He is ratings gold for Fox News. I see them moving his show to 7PM eastern time and shifting Baier and Smith down an hour. Just think of the possible ratings a Beck lead in would produce for O'Reilly. Liberal's heads would explode.....which would be pretty cool.
Oh and Peter......is advertize a form of ebonics? I get confused when people trash the english language, like you know, word!!!!

Great article . . . funny how the Left hates to hear the truth.

  • Peter 2 years ago

Can you name the 33 companies that no longer advertising on Glenn Beck's show? Or can you give the source for numbers?

I am betting you can't. I will spot you one, Sargento Cheese, supposedly.

    All the Best

Just a reminder that the goal of the boycott is not to get advertisers to quit running ads on Beck, but to get Beck's show off the air, using economic extortion to do it.

Beck is still on the air (and still running exposes on the watermelon behind Colour For Change leader and Obama official Van Jones). His ratings are higher than ever.

The boycott might have scared off an advertiser or two (and of course we aren't sure of how many, since those who are most likely to flee from the boycott were unlikely to be regular advertisers before the boycott started - and also since we can't trust Colour For Change to be honest), but Beck has not been sidelined.

    Beck wins.

I would like to thank Color of Change. It is apparently a stealth public relations company who can now claim the terrific accomplishment of successfuly driving up Glen Beck's ratings. Today, TV Newser reports that FNC's viewership is up way over 30% this summer. Thanks again CofC for your part in that.

Beck at 7, O'Reilly at 8 and hanity on at 9.....I like it. Hey FOX, you paying attention to this? What better way to kick goofy KO's teeth and stick it to the National Barack Channel.

The people who watch Beck are the same people who believe that Obama is not a citizen, that the Iraq war was necessary, that the Republicans are for the poor people and that the county's problems were caused by Obama. Just like beck they are either stuoid or ignorant or both. And as racist as is Fox."A house divided cannot stand" (Abraham Lincoln"

  • Johnny 100 Pesos 2 years ago

Hey, Birdy, let's unpack your statement, shall we...

"The people who watch Beck are the same people who believe that Obama is not a citizen..."

Ok, you got a few of us there. Of course conspiracy theories are not the exclusive domain of the right, or have you never heard of 9/11 Truthers, which boast some very famous people among it's believers.

"...that the Iraq war was necessary..."

The Bush Doctrine was to destroy state sponsors of terrorism. Do you deny that Iraq was one of those?

"...that the Republicans are for the poor people..."

What do you mean "for the poor people?" The Democrats are truly for poor people, and so are turning more and more prosperous people into poor people everyday.

  • Johnny 100 Pesos 2 years ago

"...and that the county's problems were caused by Obama."

We believe that Obama didn't cause the countries problems, he just made them worse. However, a lot of the blame for the problems are with Pelosi and her gang in congress... the economy was chugging along quite nicely until their left wing ideals put so many banks in trouble.

"Just like beck they are either stuoid or ignorant or both."

Are all people who disagree with you stupid or ignorant? Does this mean you have all wisdom and all knowledge? I respectfully doubt it.

"And as racist as is Fox."A house divided cannot stand" (Abraham Lincoln"

Please demonstrate an occasion of Fox's racism.

You may like having the government entirely take over the health care industry, but if you don't, that doesn't make you racist.

You may not believe in limited government, but if you do that does not make you stupid.

But one last thing: what do you call a conservative winning an argument with a liberal? You call hi

  • cockface 2 years ago

What a stupid bitch. Like it makes a difference if a company hasnt advertised on his show before. The fact is, they dont advertise on his show. Somehow the loss of earnings from potential advertisers means leftists are stupid. Only an idiot can draw that conclusion.

  • your mama 2 years ago

hehehehehehehehe, I'm glad there's more than 33 companies in the USA that will advertise on fox. Funny that the left only sees half the picture.

  • Johnny 100 Pesos 2 years ago

CF, the fact is that Colour Of Change claims that Becks advertisers have dropped advertising from his show, when the truth is different.

My company doesn't advertise on Beck, does that mean that we're boycotting Beck? No, because we only advertise in local papers. But CFC would probably claim that we've joined the boycott.

This doesn't mean the lefties at Colour For Change are stupid, but it does mean that they are dishonest.

We have other reasons to believe them stupid.

  • Judy 2 years ago

The boycott is boring. Glenn Beck is boring. Who cares?

Meanwhile, I saw Rush Limbaugh on TV today and I was wondering about heredity and if Rush's father had huge boobs, too. I mean, Rush has HUGE knockers. Really.

Rush is fat. Being fat can give you boobs. Rush could also be a hermaphrodite. It's possible.

All I know is Rush has some pretty swingin' boobies.

  • Judy 2 years ago

Don't you think Glenn Beck has HUGE lips for a man?

    Makes you think.

  • Jeremy Freedman 2 years ago

Beck is the last person who should be talking about Nazis and racist. It's reeks of irony that a German who converted to a racist religion like Mormonism should be calling others Nazis and racists.
John 100 Pesos, it was your idol and intellectual equal, Beck, who started calling people racist. Are you implying Beck is a liberal?

  • Jeremy Freedman 2 years ago

This is typical Shaidle dreck. To call her pathetic rants intelligent is like indulging a bright 9 year old. She can toss a bunch of facts around but miss the point every time.
For such a good Catholic, it's nice to see her pay her respects to Senator Kennedy in such a gracious manner.

  • momof2 2 years ago

Kathy, why you're getting almost as desperate as Beck himself when he pleads that people in power will "take his money away".

Radical black activists? Stupid, lazy, incompetent?

Trotting out the Nazi references in 3...2...1...

Tell you what, next time drop all the pretences and just write a rant - you know you want to.

  • MarionN 2 years ago

Great points Ms Shaidle. The lefties get their unwashed panties in a twist as usual - what else is new.
Talking about the latest dead Kennedy, I enjoyed my bottle of champagne last night all in his honor. It was delicious.

  • Q. Fortune 2 years ago

Jeremy seems to forget that it was Olby who called President Bush a racist, years before the Beck incident. Beck has apologized, Olby not.

Hey rocket scientist liboass. What is "stuoid?" Don't you Thank you for proving yet again how "STUPID" and IGNORANT you DUMBASS LIBS really are. Now get back in mommies basement and learn some more fo those hard to spell word's. YOU MORON!

Do you understand the irony in trying to call out someone else's typo by saying phrases like "Don't you Thank you", using "mommies" instead of "mommy's" and "word's" instead of "words"?

That was a hoot and it made my night - thanks!

  • kidney 2 years ago

Jeremy, did you know that the very group that is boycotting Beck because of the "racist" comment sells merchandise on its site expressing their agreement with Kanye West statement that "George Bush hates black people."?
They are only mad that THEIR president was called a racist, nothing is beyond the pale to smear the other side with.

  • Revnant Dream 2 years ago

Every time a lefty opens their mouth to run Glen Beck down it means more money in the bank for him. By trying to be cute they have made him more popular.
I guess they don't read the very play books they created.
Trust me, making martyers of folks just kills you.

Hey, that's an interesting theory. Since this "boycott" is backfiring so bad, maybe Color of Change is actually a secret right-wing plant. I bet this was all Karl Rove's idea.

So, this means there are 33 fewer commercials that I have to watch? Please publish a list of those who NO LONGER advertise on Beck's program so WE can boycott THEM.

Back when the dust-up started, I sent identical emails to Geico and Progressive insurance companies...the only advertisers mentioned in that early report.

"An organization calling itself Color Of Change is bragging that it has forced you to pull your advertising from the Glenn Beck Show on the Foxnews channel.

If true, it is disappointing to know that you are so easily swayed by the tactics espoused by that minority organization, when it is 'the majority' who actually buys insurance...and buys some of it from you.

I have a feeling that, if those who subscribe to Color Of Change entirely ceased to purchase your product...it would have far less impact than if the rest of us did that.

Think about who actually butters your bread before you decide which oven to bake it in."

Only Progressive answered, confirming the claim.
Is it really true that Progressive is owned by George Soros...and that it is named 'Progressive' for good reason?

I don't see anyone refuting the last weeks 8-24 to 8-28 show of the facts Glenn Beck presented. I can't find it on any station , channel or other news organization whatsoever. I can't find it on Google either. Please point me to any discussion that does not find our Green Jobs Special Advisor Van Jones anything but a self-avowed communist with a criminal record. I'm listening to all sources and also consider Carl Sagan's "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" message deeply in confirming the truth . I don't care how big peoples lips are or their skin color. Just the facts.

What a dumbass idiot. You do see that the 'o' and 'p' keys reside next to one another on your keyboard, right? Pathetically attempting to conflate a simple typographical error ('stuoid' instead of 'stupid') with proof of illiteracy is nothing short of pathetic.
