A fixture in New York City just as much as the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge, "Radioman" Craig Castaldo looks set to get his own television series. Respected and befriended by A-list actors including George Clooney, Robin Williams and Meryl Streep, Radioman has been a part of countless movies and film projects. The series is the brainchild of co-producers Leanne Bishop and Vincent Petrosini.
Radioman was born and raised in New York. Years ago he started riding his bicycle everywhere with a portable radio in tow. He would even tie the radio around his neck on subway rides to help prevent its theft. Craig is a genuine soul who people instantly love, a trait which helped him gain the friendship of "who's who" in the New York filming scene. He is the sort of person who speaks honestly to anyone, no matter their stature or status. This, combined with his good heart, helps endear him to those who are considered movie star royalty. A documentary has already been made about his life.
Leanne and Vincent have already made their own short film about him, one that won the NYC Spotlight Award and premiered on June 24 at the Manhattan Film Festival. It was called "On the Radioman."
The act of making the film suggested the idea for the series, though the latter is not a continuation of the former. The series will instead be about Radioman's unlikely rise to fame. It is being pitched as being somewhere between "Extras" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." The series has no official name yet, simply being referred to as "The Radioman Series."
The new series is still in talks, but Leanne hopes that within 6 months it will become a reality. Working as a producer with her partner Vincent, Leanne describes herself as an actress who does writing and producing to facilitate her acting. A bi-coastal performer who loves New York, she spends time in Los Angeles when she needs to but always enjoys coming home to work in New York City. Her latest writing project besides the Radioman series is called "What If?" and is one she also hopes to get off the ground. With the success of "On the Radioman" behind her, she stands a good chance of making all of her dreams come true.
