There's a new Beatles radio show to check out this summer. It's called "The Beat," and can be heard from 8-10 p.m. ET Wednesdays at http://wecb.emerson.edu. The show is streamable from iTunes and Windows Media Player from that site.
Co-host Nathaniel Taylor says "The Beat" has actually been on the air locally at Emerson College since 2007, but they've been trying to give the show time to develop before opening it to a wider audience.
"This is the first summer we've been able to broadcast," he says. "We play anything and everything a Beatle had a direct hand in making, from 'Liverpool Oratorio' to Harry Nilsson's 'Pussycats,' and all of this history comes with our unique perspective of two 20-year-old college students trying to spread the Beatles legacy."
"We broadcast without commercials, with nonstop Beatles tunes and news. What sets us even further apart is our extensive knowledge and use of bootleg material. My bootleg collection now stands at 2,500 unique tracks, four days in length," he says.
"Simply put, we guarantee that most people will listen to any episode of our show and hear three recordings they've never heard before."
