As the dust settles from Monday’s iPhone 4 announcement at the WWDC, people are flocking to stores to figure out where they can get Apple’s newest super tech. Two popular electronics chains have announced within the last twenty-four hours that they will be carrying the iPhone 4.
According to Engadget, the iPhone 4 will be carried on launch day at Best Buy stores. There are going to be a minimum of 45 units per store, with 30 being of the 32GB variety, and 15 being of the 16GB variety. Employee purchases will be banned at launch, indicating a decent shot for some of us Long Island and the rest of New York to actually get an iPhone 4.
The most intriguing store to carry the iPhone 4 at launch will be RadioShack. RadioShack has announced on its Twitter account that it will carry the iPhone 4 on launch day. According to another one of its Tweets, it will be issuing a pre-order similar to Apple’s starting June 15.
The best part of the possibly of buying an iPhone 4 from RadioShack is its trade in feature, which allows you to trade in your old iPhone 3G for about $100, or a 3GS for about $200 in store credit. This of course depends on the condition of your device, but if you’ve taken care of it, there’s no reason you won’t be able to get that deal.
These two chains are great ways to get iPhone 4’s. They will both carry the device, but there is sure to be competition to get it. I’d pre-order if I could as soon as possible. Everyone is going to try the RadioShack trade-in maneuver, so perhaps it’s wise to go with Best Buy, which has a guaranteed 45 units. It may require some camping out, but that could make one heck of an experience if you could pull off getting one.
