Fearless acceptance. We spend so much turning away from fear, sadness, pain and doubt and turn towards life. Face it and come to know it as yourself. Life isn’t against you. Stop and look at what is actually here. Life is your life, gently return to the constant invitation of life.
Life is home
Some really difficult things come your way. Sometimes like can get really challenging in the waves of the ocean that is you. Sometimes the waves get really intense. The truth is you don’t know what to do with them. Even after you’ve been awakened and enlightened, a tsunami can come and crush you. It can be a beautiful place to start. It can be overwhelming in the beginning but it becomes a ride that strengthens. No one actively seeks strength through grief and fear and so it is hard to sit with grief. You are taught as a child to avoid these feelings. No one ever really just holds your hand through the pain and not tries to fix you and change you and not try to get you to feel something different.
Fear of the intensity
You’re afraid of the intensity of life, because it can get so intense. You’re afraid to truly allow the grief to come, to really cry or to let it all out because you’re afraid it will overtake you, you might get stuck or never stop crying.
The question is how to accept
In that moment you feel unable to allow and you feel your own failure to accept it. That becomes the truth of the moment. There is a tsunami and you feel unable to accept that moment. There’s a deeper truth to what is going on there.
Remembering you true nature is acceptance
As you meditate you watch sensations and thoughts come and go. As you do this you begin to realize you can be the sensation and thoughts because they come and go. What you are is here and it doesn’t come and go. You are being. Who you are can’t be thought, felt. There is presence. Who you are always remains.
Life is one basic constant meditation
Acceptance isn’t you need to accept a situation, its every wave that arises in you is already allowed because it is appearing. The ocean of you is already allowing that wave. The pain, the joy, on the deepest level it’s who you are. Who you are has already said yes to this moment. On the most basic level it’s not your enemy. These waves of experience have already been let in and it’s too late to fight them. These are children to be held. Life doesn’t ask any more of you than that. We forget how deeply embracing we are.
Life is one never ending invitation to notice
Its total surrender to life, it’s recognizing your total surrender to life. It’s an inner built in ‘yes’ to life. It’s remembering you are this vast unlimited ocean instead of this small limited cup. In reality this moment is never really too much. There’s something here already embracing this moment allowing this moment to be. Even if you fell unable to experience, the ocean already is accepting it, it’s already holding it. Who you are is holding the space for the fear. You are giving this space breathing room to express itself. Remember yourself as the wide open space to hold it without identifying yourself as the fear.
Fear of your money situation
You might have a house or not have a house, you might have money or not have money and in three weeks you may be homeless. And what everyone tries to do in moment is fix it all, to fix your entire future. What you can do is to sink into the moment, the solutions will come, but not all in one moment. Your life won’t fall apart in one moment. If you come back to the moment and breath and feel where the fear is in your body. To come out of the story of your life for a moment and return to life that you are. Allow yourself to feel the fear instead of fixing present fear. It doesn’t work, no answers come and it’s very exhausting. To begin acknowledging the fear, to meet fear, not fix it, is when you start to relax. From that place that’s the creative place, the source of all creativity. If your answers are going to come this is the place they come from, not from the story of three weeks.
Sitting with someone who is experiencing a lot of fear, out of love you try to fix them or offer solutions or try to find some answer. What truly heals is being with them as they go through their fearful story and providing the space for creativity and expression. Really “meeting and being” with them and not filling up the space with conversation. People are afraid to sit with themselves and be with alone with themselves and stay there.
In life you are given so many ways and techniques to get rid of things in your life, that no one experiences just being with it until it does works out whatever way it does. So many people end up leaving or running away from it. Healing has nothing to do with fixing yourself, it’s about staying with yourself. Even if it is anger and the person is mad at you, it’s being there with them while they are calling you names and just getting it out. Can you stay with your own experience, because it’s all you know. You can you just stay in that moment, in the ocean.
Remembering it keeps the “victim” stance away. It may hurt but you won’t get hurt by it.
