If you not already planning a summer trip between Chicago and New York, you might want to consider it. Last week, Delta Airlines began offering 11 flights a day between Chicago O’Hare and New York LaGuardia. And with the new shuttle service, they are also offering triple SkyMiles, Delta’s frequent flier program.
To compete with the offer, American Airlines announced yesterday that they are offering the same triple-mile deal on their O’Hare-LaGuardia shuttle route. American offers 17 daily flights between the cities.
American’s shuttle service, the biggest carrier on the route, is all on mainline jets, while Delta’s service is flown by a third party carrier, Shuttle America which is owned by Republic Airway Holdings.
Both airlines also offer triple miles on their LaGuardia-Boston routes. Additionally, Delta is offering triple miles to Washington National.
