Eastern Montana's agricultural economy is somewhat dependent upon trade agreements in the world market. Kim Murray from Froid is the the chair of the Montana Pulse Crops Advisory Council. He just returned from a trade mission with Senator Baucus to Brazil and Columbia. While much of the senator's publicity on the trip was on small business opportunities in Brazil, the benefits for Eastern Montana will come primarily from Columbia.
In the audio to the left of this column, Murry explained that there is a trade race with Canada over successful free trade between Montana fields and Columbian markets.
