For all you local runners out there, get ready for an event-packed morning in Mason on Saturday, July 26, at Pine Hill Lakes Park. There will be three races, including the 5k Run/Walk, the 1k Kids Run and the 1 mile Zombie Run. The 5k will start the morning off at 8:45, followed by the Kids 1k at 9:45 and then the new Zombie 1 mile run around the park. This is an untimed fun run taking one loop around the park with the impression of trying to escape a Zombie attack.

There are four pre-registration offers available online at www.GetMeRegistered.com, for the 5k is $25, the 5k including the Zombie Run is $30, the Kids Run only (Age 3-10, including participation medal) is $5, Zombie Run only is $15. All registration includes a t-shirt except the Kids Run. Pre-Registration will end on July 23 at 6pm so look into this race if you would like some fun race events for the whole family. These events will benefit the Mason High School and Middle School Cross Country and Track & Field Booster Organization. Having been a school cross country and track runner in my younger days I know that those sports didn’t draw much of a fan base on their own so I am sure the organization is looking to create a fun event for all the local families and runners. The organization also asks that pre-registration be completed by July 12 to guarantee t-shirts. Race day registration will be available, however, though runners will be needed to arrive an hour early to register.

Early packet pickup for those who do register will be available on Friday, July 25, between 10:30am and 7:00pm at Buckeye Running Company, 4200 Aero Drive, Mason, or you will be able to arrive early on race day as well. For further race info feel free to visit www.sprunning.com. Come on out to Pine Hill Lakes Park and join the Booster Organization and stay ahead of those Zombies! Good luck to all those runners out there.
