New York Fashion Week is the perfect time for people to see the upcoming trends of the Fashion world and to find inspiration in order to bring new pieces into their wardrobe. However, the truth of that matter is that most people cannot afford to purchase the pieces featured on the runway. Therefore, I decided to pick some of my favorite collections and put together more affordable versions of the outfit.
The first collection that really inspired me was that of stylist turned designer Rachel Zoe. I used to watch her show religiously and I absolutely admired her passion for her job and everything that had to do with fashion and style. I would have to say that Zoe's collection was one of the most versatile ones. It would be very simple to bring the pieces from the runway into an everyday wardrobe. There were a lot of outfits that, depending on your office rules, with a few tweaks, would be good for work; some that are perfect for a lazy Sunday or for a night out.
The first outfit that I selected consists of a button up shirt with a black sweater over...this is then paired with a graphic print skirt and a pair of white heels. While the skirt on the runway was a bit short, you can always get a longer version to make this outfit work-appropriate. This outfit is particularly perfect for the autumn season because it consists of layers and you can always add more for the chillier days, such as a jacket and tights. Asos graphic skirt.
The second outfit is perfect for a weekend day..running around, wanting to be comfortable but stylish as well or even going out with friends or to a festival of sorts...all you need to do is play around with the pieces until it works for you. In Rachel Zoe's edition she had a pair of loosely fitted boyfriend jeans, a white crop top that resembled a vest, a white blazer and striped heels. As I mentioned, if you are not comfortable wearing a crop top then you can always opt for regular v-neck...you just cannot be afraid of playing around with fashion! In my edition, I paired the boyfriend jeans with a less revealing white crop top, a pastel floral print blazer, black and white striped loafers (which would be more comfortable for work than heels) and a blue tote for a pop of color! The third outfit is definitely the edgiest of the bunch and perfect for a night of bar-hopping and dancing with the ladies! This look consists mainly on leather pieces...leather shorts and jacket, paired with a sheer shirt and some strappy stand-out heels. Since everything is black in this outfit, it would be nice to add some sort of belt that has a pattern or color on it, not only to break up all the black, but also to accentuate your feminine figure. With the remake that I created I stuck to a lot of the same pieces Mrs. Zoe did, I just added a gold clutch and a more elaborately patterned belt. Forever 21 leather shorts.
The last outfit is one of my absolute favorites! I am a big fan of golds, bronzes and metallics which is everything that this outfit encompasses. As with the first outfit, Rachel Zoe layered a collared shirt underneath of a metallic taupe sweater. This she paired with gold shorts and brown sandal like heels. In my edition of the outfit, I decided to make the outfit a little more autumn appropriate. Instead of sandals, I chose brown suede booties and I also threw on a statement necklace. Also with this outfit, you can add a pair of tights and a jacket over it! Gold Shorts.
I hope this gave you some ideas of how you can replicate outfits from the runway in an affordable way and one that suits your style! I will publish more Fashion Week inspired outfits!
