The Whistleblower, an upcoming movie isn’t out yet, but Rachel Weisz is already hearing that the film could be a contention for an Oscar. The actress who plays a Nebraska cop was on the streets of Manhattan during a taping of the Today Show on Wednesday morning talking about a role of a film that took five years for her to finally release in theaters. And now she could be in line for a major award nomination.

"It is a thriller much in the view of Erin Brockovich because it is based on a true story of an ordinary woman who did an extraordinary thing,” explained Rachel Weisz who takes the lead in The Whistleblower.  “I did read the script in 2006 I was pregnant with my son. I couldn't cope with it at that moment. The strange thing is I never forgot about it.”

Two years ago Rachel Weisz called up the producer for the film and asked if it was still available. After finding out that the movie hadn’t been produced she stepped up to fill the role of the woman who blows the whistle on mass corruption.
