Rachel McAdams has quit the film "Passengers" after replacing actress Reese Witherspoon for the role of Aurora. The Keanu Reeves science fiction love story is now on hold again as the lead female role doesn't have an actress to fill it. On March 14, WebProNews reported that the film was supposed to be released on April 3, 2015, but with all of these major hiccups, that date is becoming a pipe dream.
At this point it is unclear why Reese Witherspoon decided against the film and why Rachel McAdams followed suit. Both women must have had good reasons to walk away from the film but said reasons have not been made public... yet.
Rachel McAdams' "Passengers" role might have been too demanding but she is only filming one other movie this year according to IMDb. "The Little Prince" is also slated for a 2015 release and features McAdams as the voice of one of the characters. "Passengers" is a very different kind of film:
"The love story in space centers around a flight that is supposed to take 120 years to reach its destination. All 5,000 passengers onboard the space craft sleep during journey. There is a malfunction and Reeves’ character wakes up 90 years before he is supposed to. He quickly grows bored and lonely, so he decides to wake up Aurora. The pair then have the task of having to save the rest of the passengers. Of course, they fall in love in the process" (via WebProNews).
If Rachel McAdams quit "Passengers" after Reese Witherspoon, chances are these women had good reason. Question is, who will step in -- if anyone -- next?
