Rachel Goodrich brings her kazoo and Bohemian-infused indie rock to Crowbar

There was a time in my life about ten years ago, when I had some ridiculous personal vendetta against female vocalist. I vowed to NEVER like a band with a chick singer! Now, I honestly have NO idea what my problem was, but my views have drastically changed...and for the better. It is women like Rachel Goodrich that make me very glad that I had a change of heart.

The Miami-native has been called the "queen of the Miami indie rock scene" by the New York Times, her first album, Tinker Toys, received critical acclaimed and three of her songs have been featured in TV shows and commercials. This year, Ms. Goodrich is releasing her highly-anticipated second album and it won't be anything less than a multi-instrumental, "shake-a-billy" masterpiece. Besides having a voice that will make you instantly fall in love, charming lyrics, an an army of unusual yet well put together instruments (including a kazoo and a ukulele!), Rachel's live performances are a sight to be seen. Whether you know the words or not, you'll feel like you're at a your best friend's singalong. Goodrich has a welcoming yet cool expression that exactly matches her sound. Joining Goodrich & Co. on stage is a jewel of the Greater Bay area music scene: Sons of Hippies.

Sons of Hippies' sound is almost certainly a challenge; a challenge to NOT move to each and every song, a challenge to NOT lose yourself in Katherine Kelly's haunting yet dreamy vocals that, at times, have a slight tinge of disobedience. Kelly is perfectly accompanied  by an array of distorted guitars and fuzzy synth beats to create a type of psychedelic punk rock that almost everyone can relate to, on one level or another.

Also lending their musical support to this amazing Aestheticized Presents' bill are Clearwater brother-sister sister indie darlings, Drake and Sofia, and Tampa's instrumental, electronic artist Justin Meyers better known as Alien House. So, if you're smart, you will let this show be the kick-off of what promises to be one hell of a musical next few days. Don't sleep this weekend, Tampa Bay, I promise you will regret it!
