To call Rachel Farley a phenomenon implies that the talented singer/songwriter appeared out of nowhere with her powerhouse voice. But that is not the case, because Rachel Farley has been singing and writing most of her life. At the age of 13 Farley was opening for Brantley Gilbert and has gone on to tour with both Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.
While the word phenomenon does not describe Farley, the word phenomenal certainly does. On Tuesday, Oct. 1 the 18-year-old country-rock singer took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry singing her hit “Ain’t Easy” as well as her new single “Midnight Road,” which is now available on iTunes and released on the Red Bow Records label. Also on the Tuesday Night Opry bill were Jason Crabb, Larry Wayne Gatlin and Vince Gill.
In an exclusive interview Rachel Farley talked about her music and her father, who passed away in 2011 from cancer. The past two years have been a non-stop whirlwind of radio tours, playing in college bars, at County fairs and festivals.
Rachel co-wrote her brand new single “Midnight Road” with Heather Morgan and Ross Cooperman. She said that she expects to release a full CD sometime in 2014. One of the songs that Farley hopes to include on that CD is “My Daddy’s Song” which she wrote after her father‘s passing. Farley said that she recorded the song in just one take.
Rachel Farley’s musical influences come from almost every genre of music, including pop, rock, The Kinks, Jewel and The Dixie Chicks and it comes through in her music, which has a broad appeal to all ages and demographics.
Rachel Farley is a hot country/Southern rock star on the rise. With an incredible voice and equally incredible songwriting ability, country music fans should keep an eye out for the gorgeous young woman from Georgia as “Midnight Road” climbs the country music charts.
