Burns will represent Texas at the 2014 Miss International Pageant in Florida.
Contestants are judged in the categories of interview, evening gown, fitness wear and fun fashion wear.
"We uplift young women who want to excel in their lives and make a difference in their communities," pageant officials state on their website. "We celebrate your energy and your commitment to challenge yourself."
The reigning Miss International is Jesse Ladou of New York, who has promoted volunteerism during her reign.
The national pageant is scheduled for Aug. 1-2.
In addition to a new Miss International, judges will choose a Miss Teen International and Mrs. International this summer.
"The Miss International System has established itself as an organization with integrity, high ethical standards, and consistent application of its rules and regulations," according to organizers. "It is our goal to provide ladies everywhere the opportunity to compete in a pageant system that maintains the highest of moral values."
