Rachael Bazzell qualifies for Miss Indiana Pageant

Rachael Bazzell was crowned Miss Duneland 2013, the Miss Indiana Pageant reported March 10 on Twitter.

The crowning qualifies Bazzell as a contestant for Miss Indiana. If she wins the state title, she will represent Indiana at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.

Bazzell is a former Miss Purdue. “"The scholarship assistance I have received through the program has been a wonderful blessing for my family and me," she told Purdue Today in a 2010 interview, "affording young women the opportunity to pursue their career ambitions is priceless."

"Rachael was recognized by the Indiana House of Representatives via proclamation, honoring her dedication and service to the fight against cancer, "according to her Facebook page. "Rachael has had the honor of working with former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels in declaring June 'Relay For Life Month' across the state of Indiana."

Lindsey Birmingham was crowned Miss Duneland's Outstanding Teen 2013. If she wins the state title, she will represent Indiana at the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Fla. The teen pageant is for girls ages 13-17 and is the younger-sister pageant to the Miss America competition.
